Blizzard Beach

Disney's Blizzard Beach is a waterpark at Walt Disney World. The park was the third water park to open after River Country and Typhoon Lagoon. Most of the attractions are located at the top of Mount Gushmore and split into three colored slopes. All the water in the resort is heated to 80 degrees Fahrenheit with the exception of melting snow in the caves of Cross Country Creek.

[edit] Story

The behind story for Blizzard Beach is that a freak snowstorm in the Orlando area lead to the construction of Florida's first and only ski resort. The snow didn't last long and created waterlogged ski jumps and slides. As the owners of the resort were in the process of closing, they saw an alligator sliding down a flume and splashed into a pool of water while screaming 'Yahoo!'. The ski resort was reopened as a water park and 'Ice Gator' was chosen as their mascot.[5]

[edit] Slopes

[edit] Green Slope

The Green Slope hosts all single track water slides and are found at the top of Mount Gushmore. It can be accessed by foot or the Chair Lift. Summit Plummet is the main attraction for these slopes but it also includes Team Boat Springs, and Slush Gusher

[edit] Purple Slope

The Purple Slope mainly hosts rides that are designed for racing. This includes such slides as the Downhill Double Dipper, Snow Stormers and Toboggan Racers.

[edit] Red Slope

The Red Slope is at the rear of the park and is made up of Runoff Rapids.
