Countdown to Extension was the original name for DINOSAUR when the ride opened.

The ride was renamed DINOSAUR to tie in with the movie Dinosaur in 2000 (2000). The word 'CTX', the abbreviation for Countdown to Extension, can be found all over the attraction including on the vehicles and stenciled on the walls. Many think the ride was toned down but it wasn't. The height restriction was lowered from 48 to 40 inches.
