[edit] Show Details
The 22 minute and 48 second show seats 700 and includes a patriotic film and then the animatronic Presidents. The film shows much of the United States history and focuses on the beginning of the Constitution and the presidents. The film is currently narrated by Maya Angelou. After the film, the screen parts and the presidents are shown. Every president up to the current president is represented. All of the presidents move, blink, fidget and whisper during the show and gesture when their name is called. The show then has the current president give a speech and then the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln rises from his chair and speaks. All of the presidents are in authentic clothes for their period including the braces on Franklin D. Roosevelt's legs.[3]
[edit] Changes over time
Over time, the show has added Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
[edit] 1993 Update
In June 1993, the show was closed for a major rehab including a new script which has had both positive and negative reviews. The show focuses more on the racial tension in the country since its beginning which some have praised for being enlightening while others as politically correct. This update also had Bill Clinton give his speech in his own voice. It reopened on November 18, 1993.[4]
[edit] 2001 Update
George W. Bush was added to the show along with a new narration by J. D. Hall. The President actually used his voice for the show like Bill Clinton had. The body of Clinton was recycled and changed to be President Bush. This is the plan for the next president in 2009 as well.
[edit] 2006 Update
One interesting fact is that the Presidential Seal in the lobby of the show required an act of Congress to use it. In 2006 the show went through a minor update to clean the Presidential Seal in the carpet and protect it for the future.
[edit] 2008 Update
The attraction has been closed after the 2008 election to add Barack Obama. The attraction will open on July 4, 2009. The attraction will now have George Washington speak and Abraham Lincoln will deliver the full Gettysburg address. President Obama's figure will be heard giving the oath of office that was recorded on March 4, 2009 in the White House Map Room along with a short speech. Morgan Freeman will also narrate a new film at the beginning of the attraction. The theater additionally received an update to the audio equipment.[5]
