The Land opened with Epcot in 1982 (1982) and was originally sponsored by Kraft.[2] At its opening, The Land housed 3 shows and 2 restaurants. Currently The Land is sponsored by Nestle and is home to Epcot's newest attraction Soarin' thanks to its 2004 (2004)/2005 (2005) rehab. It's new logo is displayed here with a waterfall in the background. The old logo was a diamond shaped logo.
The decorations inside The Land building had the roof painted like the sky along with hot air balloons hanging from the roof. The other half of the roof is a skylight which can be seen from the front of the building. It also featured a large fountain in the middle of the building on the first floor. One of the more interesting features of The Land is the two levels accessible by stairs or elevator. Guests enter and exit from the first floor and have to walk to the other side of The Land to get to the stairs. One of the main features of The Land was its focus on pollution and the environment. The green houses behind The Land are used for growing most of the food which is served at the restaurants in The Land. The Land went through a major rehab from late 2004 to early 2005. During this time, The Land was closed and inaccessible.
During this major rehab, a new ride was added to the land while many shows were removed. Soarin' was added but it took over the space for the Green Thumb Emporium and Food Rocks. Soarin' is actually only attached to The Land via the queue building which allowed for The Land's building to remain in its current form. The entrance and sidewalk was also changed as seen in the photos. A lot of the inside including the roof and the balloons has been updated and all the restaraunts were rehabbed. The outside sidewalk and planters were all redone giving entrance an uphill walk.
